Broken chairs to be replaced

Mr Hamid Saka Hama, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Council, has said that 184 broken chairs in the Accra Sports Stadium would to be replaced before the CAF Club second leg final match on December 17.

"Fortunately for us we have enough spare chairs to undertake the replacement. Since it would be a big match, all broken structures would also be repaired because we do not want our guests to come and meet things, which do not match up to standard".

Speaking to the GNA in Accra, Mr Hamah regretted the inadequate security measures, which give room for people to misuse and destroy the facilities. He said this has been occurring because there are 27 other associations whose activities bring in people to use the same facilities.

So far, one person has been arrested and the Osu police are investigating the thefts. He said damage caused to facilities at the Stadium is estimated at about 20 million cedis which the NSC could not afford and is therefore seeking assistance from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

He appealed to users of the facilities to desist from stealing and destroying them saying they could be prosecuted if caught.
