The communities of Chorkor and James Town who are noted to have many boxing followers will be the hot spots this weekend as the publicity and awareness creation on the Bukom Fist of Fury Boxing Extravaganza takes shape.
According to Moses Foh Amoaning, the Marketing Director / Consultant of the programme, the gravy train is to make people aware and come to the Bukom Boxing Arena on October 12 to watch the new league.
He said the ring officials and other stakeholders have met to discuss how the league is going to be run.
He said the media who are very important partners would be involved and also have their seminar during the week.
However the climax for the weekend are street carnivals at Chorkor and James Town.
According to the former GBA president, the Chorkor street carnival will start from the Bukom Boxing Arena to Korlebu through Korle Gonno to the Mamprobi Post Office, branch to White House to Tea Garden to Abodwe (the Hawk) to Camara, branch to Lanteman to Alomo Junction and end at the Extra O park where a jam session would be held comprising music, dance, eating competition, modeling, musical chairs and boxing.
The same programme has been drawn for James Town, however the Saturday Gravy Train will move from the arena to Agbado to Akoto Lante to Assembly Spot, branch to the Atta Mills High Street to Makola to UTC, Galloway, Agbogbloshie, Abossey Okai and back to the arena and end at the Manste Agbona Park where other entertainment activities would be held.
He hinted that the Die Hard Supporters Union and Ghana Boxing Supporters Union (GBSU) will lead the float with brass band music.
He expressed that the platform will be given to underground and rising stars to perform alongside designers in the fashion industry of Ghana, like Gem Afrik, Bozoma Fashion and others.
According to Moses Foh Amoaning, the slogan for the Boxing League is ‘Disciplined World Class Success’ and some of the sponsors are GNPC, ADB, MTN, TSEL and StarTimes.
The Showbiz aspect of the event dubbed BOXBIZ was launched at the M J Grand Hotel last week.
