President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nick Mwendwa has expressed shock over Asante Kotoko's complaint that Kariobangi Sharks have given them cold reception since they touched down in Kenya ahead of their Saturday's CAF Confederation Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors will face off with Kariobangi Sharks in the first leg of CAF Confederation Cup at the MISC Kasarani Stadium on Saturday.

The Sharks have accused Ghanaian club of making unrealistic demands since they arrived in Kenya for the match.

Coach Charles Akunnor's men have blamed the home team for providing a small team bus and also giving them access to a substandard training venue as they prepare for the game.

Kotoko has also threatened to administer the same dose to the Kenyan side when they travel to Ghana for the return leg clash.

However, Mwendwa, who doubles as founder of Kariobangi Sharks has dismissed the claims made by Asante Kotoko and stated that it's the same bus they provided to the Ghana senior National Team, the Black Stars when they engaged the Harambee Stars of Kenya in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier two months ago.

"Why is Kotoko complaining, I want to put this straight to you, Kenya and Ghana are friends for many years," Mr. Mwendwa posited on Oyerepa FM.

Asante Kotoko when they are Ghana, they have good facilities, they have bigger buses, when they come to Kenya we don't have that so what we provided them is what we provide to every country that comes to us."

"When Ethiopia came to Kenya, we gave them the same business, they didn't complain, why is Kotoko complaining?

“If Kotoko want a bigger and comfortable bus, what do you do? You just get a good bus, should Kotoko spend some extra $1000, and these whole issues won’t happen, it’s not something to complain about.

“The law states this, today Friday is when Asante Kotoko will be given a training pitch, the day before the game is obligatory day to give you a training pitch now, if you decide to come to the country 3 days before you need to tell us to make the arrangement, if you don't make the arrangement you can't complain about it, because the 3 days before today are not official days, they are your days to prepare yourself better, I don't understand why Kotoko is complaining.

“Kotoko is a big club; they can sort out their own issues so why are they complaining about the bus, why? Tell them it's "rubbish".

“I’m wondering how they are concentrating about the game. I don't expect this from Kotoko, this is too petty and let Kotoko not make excuses that they were not given a bus, no one will buy it.”

“This is not something you make nuisance out of; tell them if they are not ready they are going to be beaten. These are mind games and it won't distract Kariobangi Sharks.”
