CAF Lists Ghana-Congo as High-risk Battle!

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has listed four games which are considered to be of high-risk nature in this month?s combined World Cup/Nations Cup 2006 qualifying games on the continent.

FIFA/CAF match commissioner, Bolaji Ojo-Oba who disclosed this to Saturday Vanguard on his return from a special meeting of the FIFA/CAF Security Panel in Cairo on Monday, listed the games as those between Cameroon and Sudan in Yaounde (group three), Mali and Togo in Bamako (group one), Ghana and Congo DR in Kinshasa (group two) and Senegal and Liberia in Dakar (group one).


"A match can be considered high-risk when a deep look is taken into the factors surrounding it", began Ojo-Oba, a one-time Sports Commissioner in Oyo State, one-time Head of International Department of the NFA, one-time Secretary-General of West African Football Union and Manager, Games Services of the organizing committee for the 8th All-Africa Games in 2003.

Ghana against Congo DR in Kinshasa is to be monitored by Malian, Suleiman Magassouba, since Kinshasa is almost always a troublesome venue and both the Black Stars and Simba are tied on eight points in second place in group two. Their first meeting in Kumasi ended 0-0.
