Former Vice-President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Fred Pappoe, says the directive from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to inquire about the future of the Ghana Premier League is not right.

CAF has written to all its Member Association to ascertain whether the various leagues will end or continue, so it can also plan its inter-club competitions.

Ghana and the other Associations have been given up to May 5, 2020 to respond to the letter from CAF.

According to Fred Pappoe, CAF’s notice implies all leagues must be suspended indefinitely because the date to respond is too short.

“The directive from CAF is not right. It seems they want all the Member Associations to stop their leagues by then”, he told Happy 98.9 FM.

He advised the GFA to respond to CAF about the deadline.

“They should get back to CAF and tell them its too early to decide whether the league will continue or not”.

Football activities in the country has been suspended due to the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.

The GFA is uncertain about when football will return as government has extended the ban on social gatherings and sporting activities for the next two weeks.
