A former Member of CAF’s disciplinary committee has endorsed the association's sanctions imposed on Equatorial Guinea for the unruly conduct of its fans in Thursdays’ Afcon semi-final.

Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe says the decision was well thought through and properly handed down.

The Confederation of African Football fined the AFCON hosts 100,000 dollars after the Equatoguineans pelted Ghanaian fans with bottles when they lost to the Black Stars.

In addition, the country would have to foot the bill for treating some thirty six fans who were injured after Ghana beat Equatorial Guinea on Thursday to qualify for the finals of the AFCON tourney.

Some soccer enthusiasts say the punishment is too lenient.

But speaking to Starr News, Dr. Nyaho Tamakloe said CAF acted within its rules.

“FIFA and CAF are structured properly, they have rules and regulations.

“I believe strongly that in punishment meted out to these people, CAF was guided by the regulations that it has.

“We should not forget that Equatorial Guinea came in at the last moment to save this tournament when others had refused to host it. I’m sure CAF considered all those things before handing down the punishment," he explained.
