CAF shades UEFA over leaking stadium for 2024 Euros

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) aimed a subtle jibe at UEFA following videos showing the leaking roof of Signal Iduna Park before the game between Turkey and Georgia in the 2024 European Championship.

Videos of rainwater gushing through the roofing of the stadium, which is the home venue for Borussia Dortmund, went viral on social media ahead of the match on Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

The Twitter page of CAF noticed the videos and seized the opportunity to take a dig at UEFA for the condition of the stadium.

CAF's page shared videos and photos of the leaking roof alongside photos of some stadiums used for the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, with the caption "Hosting big tournaments the right way."

Fortunately for UEFA, the leaking roof did not cause flooding at the stadium, which allowed the game to proceed.

In the match, Real Madrid's young talent Arda Guler lived up to expectations with an exceptional performance, helping his country secure a 3-1 victory over Georgia.

Guler scored the second goal for Turkey, who won the Group F match and are now the leaders of a group that includes Portugal, the Czech Republic, and Georgia.
