The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that a minute silence will be observed in all the quarter final matches of the ongoing AFCON for the 76 Egyptian fans who lost their lives in Port Said last night.

The Egypt FA has decided to suspend matches in the football leagues in all four divisions for an indefinite period.

The federation has announced that Egyptian football will be in mourning for three days for the souls of those who have fallen.

Last night in Port Said, violent clashes broke out between fans of Al Masry and Al Ahly, who were playing an Egyptian Premier League match. After Al Masry won the match 3-1, the violence spiralled out of control and over 76 people lost their lives, with the death toll set to rise.
