The Group Chief Executive Officer of CDH Financial Holdings Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Adu-Sarkodee, has built an ultra-modern basketball court of international standard to his alma mater, Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS) on the occasion of its 60th-anniversary celebration.

The facility is expected to serve as the training field for the school’s basketball team as well as host local and regional inter-schools competitions.

At a brief commissioning ceremony to hand over the court to the school, Mr. Adu-Sarkodee, eulogised the Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, The Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle, who gave him the first pair of sneakers he ever owned, to play tennis and basketball way back when he was a student at the school.

He recognised the gesture as a seed sown by the Archbishop many years ago in his life.

“Today, that seed has borne fruit and what we see here today is the result for all to see,” he said.

The CDH boss used the opportunity to encourage all who were present, particularly all “Pojomma past and present”, and his 1989 year-group to similarly sow seeds into the lives of people.

Mr. Adu-Sarkodee lauded the efforts of his colleagues and classmates as well as Mr. Louis Nii Addo, a young man he taught and mentored in POJOSS who is now an architect and the same man who designed the basketball court.

He was full of praise for all who supported the success of this project especially the headmistress and all the teachers of the school.

The 1989 year-group also presented a set of jerseys and balls to the sports department of the school.

The Most Reverend Charles Gabriel Palmer-Buckle who commissioned the facility urged all old boys of POJOSS to commit to their promise to help enhance the infrastructure of the school and also help to develop the capacity of the current students. He was impressed with the bond between Mr. Adu-Sarkodee and Mr. Louis Addo and encouraged all “Pojomma” to emulate their example.

“To my Sons, do not ill-treat the junior students because tomorrow things might change and these young ones might become Heads of State and you might need them to help you. This is the time to transfer good virtues and values to them,” he advised.

The Headmistress of POJOSS, Mrs. Bendicta Foli, in her report to the special guest of Honour, President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, acknowledged the benevolence of Mr. Adu-Sarkodee to his alma mater and appealed for further assistance to complete the school’s sports complex.
