Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Medeama Sporting Club, James Essilfie says his outfit was not surprise following the cancellation of the Ghana Football season amid coronavirus pandemic.
The Ghana FA’s executive council after a marathon meeting on Tuesday, June 30 decided to annul the season which had been suspended since March 16 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The decision is deemed as devastating for a football industry that was about finding its feet after close to 2 years on non-competitive action due to a period of normalization after the Anas Exposé.
Many football connoisseurs rooted for cancellation of the season as they cited as practically impossible for football to resume in the circumstances the country found itself in.
A chunk of the Ghanaian populace believes the decision to annul the season comes as a worry to the Tarkwa based club who had a scintillating performance in the 2019/2020 season.
But according to the CEO, he and his outfit were not surprised with the Ghana FA’s decision and is of the view that they knew the season was going to be truncated.
“It is very painful but you give thanks to the almighty God whether good or bad. Country’s with enough resources have resumed but in our case is different. We knew it was going to be difficult for us to resume so we were not surprised” he said.
