Cape Coast Technical Institute suspended from sports

Cape Coast, Feb. 15, GNA - The Central Region Schools and Colleges Sports Association has suspended indefinitely students of the Cape Coast Technical Institute from participating in all sporting activities of the Association for their "persistent unsportsman-like behaviour".

Mr Cocha Brew, the Regional Physical Education officer who disclosed this to the GNA Sports at Cape Coast on Tuesday, said the decision was taken at an executive meeting.

He said that during the recent Inter Schools and Colleges Milo Soccer final match between the Institute and Potsin Ahmadiyya Secondary School at the Robert Mensah Sports stadium, it was decided and agreed by the authorities of both schools that no students were to be allowed into the stadium so as to avoid any incidents.

Mr Brew said despite the decision, students of the Institute climbed over the walls of the stadium to watch the match and apparently not satisfied with the proceedings they decided to go on the rampage. He said the students damaged the gates to the stadium and forced their way in whilst throwing missiles at the match officials, resulting in the match to be brought to an abrupt end.

Mr Brew said at the time of the incident, Ahmadiyya Secondary School was leading by two goals to nil and they have therefore been declared champions and are to represent the Region at the National Milo competition. 15 Feb. 06
