Cesar Juarez is about to end his training at the Nuevo Jordan gym in Mexico City and then he’s going to travel to Ghana on Wednesday where on January 6th he will compete for the interim super bantamweight title of the World Boxing Organization against local boxer Isaac Dogboe, whom Juarez intends to knock out so as not to leave doubts about his supremacy.
Practically with an empty gymnasium due to the December festivities nearby, Juarez trains under the tutelage of Manuel Lopez and has had to keep the diet to stay just five pounds over the 122 that he should make with no issues on January 5, the day before the fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.
“I’m going to go find the knockout and we’re going to start from the beginning with everything, as I’m always used to doing, from the first round I’m going to go out and die on the line in search of the knockout, I’m not going to leave any doubt. To win in Ghana, where I will not be the favorite, the most effective thing to do is to look for the knockout,” said Juarez, 26, and 20-5 with 15 knockouts, to ESPN Deportes.
Cesar will travel over next week with Manuel López and Margarito Juarez, as well as with Luis Zápari and Sean Gibbons.
And although many believe that fighting in a foreign country should be something to stay away from, he has actually been used to fighting away from home and against everything.
“Unfortunately since I started in my career as a boxer I never had the backing of a company that was taking care of me, since early in my career I was going to fight in the wolf’s cave, I went to places where everything was against me, where I was a completely unknown, I think I have the capacity to take on this great challenge of going to another country and putting the name of Mexico on a high spot and winning,” Juarez stated.
Cesar stressed that this will be his second degree, after having obtained a Law Degree and a Masters in Criminal Science. A totally different challenge and with much more adrenaline.
“Academics and sports are different things, boxing is a contact sport in which life is exposed and where you have to always do things well to get good results, this sport is very jealous. It feels very nice, I have a bachelor’s degree in law with a master’s degree in criminal science, but I want the world title in boxing, I want to be a different, peculiar boxer, I want to be a person prepared in both areas, in sports and as a professional,” Juarez said.
For now, Juarez hopes to establish himself as the first Mexican boxing champion in 2018, and for that he will have to defeat Dogboe, whom he recognized as as a talented fighter. Dogboe will come to the fight with a 17-0 record and 11 knockouts.
