THE "Chairman’s Challenge Cup, race will highlight the fourth day of the Ga Homowo meeting at the Accra Race Course today.
The race is open to Third Division "A" and Third Division "B" horses and it will be run over a distance of 9 furlongs.
Nine horses have so far entered for the race. They include Silverno, African Queen II, Belle Fille and No Escape II. Others are Shedeed, Royal Knight, Nadira, Sharaaza, formerly known as Someisoka and ever-improving Ameer.
Another interesting race on the card is the "Besore Purse" featuring Second Division "A" and Second Division "B" horses over a distance of 6 furlongs.
It has attracted a good field of 12 including Secret Wife, Je Taime, Great Prophecy, and I’m That I’m. The rest are Chestnut, Samorai, Lucky Boy, Bright Wind, Destiny, Kada, Talisman and Who Jar Bless, They are all good over the distance and a close finish is anticipated. The full programme for the meeting is as follows:
RACE ONE; Woraso Purse", a six-furlong dash for Fourth Division "A" horses.
RACE TWO: ‘Bodomase Handicap" for Fourth Division "B" horses over a distance of 5 furlongs.
RACE THREE: "Kumasi Stakes" open to Third Division "B" horses over a distance of 5 furlong.
RACE FOUR: Chairman’s Challenge Cup", a nine-furlong outing for Third Division "A" and Third Division "B" horses.
RACE FIVE: Besoro Purse", open to Second Division "A" and Second Division "B" horses over a distance of 6 furlongs. According to the Chairman, Nana Danso Agyeman I, otherwise known as Mr S. M. K. Dondor, former Chief Supt of Police and Adantenkuumashene of Kumawu have been invited to grace the occasion.
He said another cup event, the "Star Homowo Challenge Cup" will be run next week to climax the season.
