Former Asante Kotoko star Charles Taylor has expressed disappointment with the management of the club to relieve Steven Polack of his duties as head coach of the club.
The club released a statement on Friday, announcing the termination of Polack’s contract.
But speaking to Onua FM’s Frank Osei-Owusu on the issue, Charles Taylor said, “Kotoko have no reasons to sack their coach.
“They should have asked the players what their problems are before they took that action,” he said in Twi.
“I always say coaches do only 30 per cent. I believe that as a player, you have to work hard. If you are chosen to play ahead of your colleagues to play for Kotoko, [it] is a great responsibility”.
He blamed the players for the inability of the team to progress to the next stage of the CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.
“If you play in Kumasi and you convert one out of four penalties given and you go to play away and still lose on penalties, are we to blame a coach? That is why Kotoko and Hearts are not progressing.”
