Former Black Stars player, Charles Taylor, has claimed that some former players who hold certain roles in the football fraternity have crushed his love for the team.

He said these individuals do not recognize the deserving former Black Stars players and try to keep them away from the team's activities.

Speaking with Saddick Adams TV on YouTube, he stated that the former players who deserve to be in and around the team are those who won trophies for the nation, citing Wilberforce Mfum as an example while aiming a dig at others.

"If we are talking about old players who deserve much respect at the Black Stars, it should be Mfum and not those around the team now. Mfum is among those who won a trophy, not somebody who missed a penalty and used to tie his hair with a flag that should be given command at Black Stars."

According to Taylor, his heart is no longer with the team and he does not support the Black Stars.

He emphasized that he only supports a few players, including Thomas Partey and Mohammed Kudus.

"I support some of the players but not the team. I support them and hope they get better every day. Players like Kudus and Partey, I want to see them reach their full potential. That is my prayer for such players because the people around the team do not recognize and respect those who duly deserve it."

The Ghana Premier League legend is one of the many ex-players who are rarely found at ceremonies involving the current Black Stars players and former players.

In 2023, Taylor was not invited to the Ghana Legends Walk and Legend Dinner ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In an interview with Asempa FM, the former Kotoko player lashed out at former Black Stars captain Anthony Baffoe, who reportedly spearheaded the event.

"Tony Baffoe didn't invite me and that is why I didn't go to the event. We have a WhatsApp platform for former footballers, and everyone was invited except me. I heard it was because I criticize players."

"They say I insult players and they even reported me to one of our elders before, but that's not what I do as a pundit. I only talk about those who do not perform because as a great ex-player, I know players who play well and those who do not. I played better than Tony Baffoe and most of the guys, but because we didn't get the money and do not drive flashy cars, they look down upon us," Charles Taylor said.
