Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko talisman, Charles Taylor has emphatically stated that the current crop of players at the Club are not ripped enough to compete in the continental front.

The current MTN FA Cup holders have been drawn against 9-time champions of Congo, Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon in the preliminary stage of the CAF Confederations Cup which is slated for February next year.

The Porcupine Warriors painfully lost the maiden edition of the Confederations Cup to the arch-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak on penalty shoot-out back in 2005 but the Reds want to compensate their fans by winning next year’s competition with a lot of determinations and perseverance.

Charles Taylor whose name became a household tool in Ghana in 2003 due to his controversial transfer from Hearts to Kotoko insists the current crop of players at the Kumasi-based club are greenhorns in terms of the African terrain therefore urging the Club to make new additions.

‘’It will be very difficult for kotoko to make a headway in next year’s CAF Confederations Cup because most of the current players available to the club are inexperienced and fresh water-sailors to participate in this highest stage of football competition,” he told Success FM.

‘’If Kotoko want to do well in Africa, then they should buy quality and experienced players’’.

Kotoko is still in the transfer market searching for players to beef up their squad for the Confederations cup.
