Chelsea to leave on Saturday for Champions League game

Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League campaigners, Berekum Chelsea will leave Accra on Saturday, February 18, with 20 players for Liberia to commence their campaign against their Liberian counterpart champions.

Chelsea who are making their maiden appearance in the continental competition, will take on Liberia Ship Corporate Registry, (LISCR) FC on Sunday in the first leg of the competition, in Monrovia.

The list of 20 players includes Ernest Sowah, Collins Addo, Arthur Alfred, Edward Kpodo, Richard Kissi Boateng, Gladson Awako and Yaw Alexander. Others are Abdul-Basit Mohammed, Solomon Asante, Awudu Moro, Isaac Morgan, Ahmed Adams and Musa Mohammed.

The rest are Eric Agyemang, Prince Papa Arko, Jordan Opoku, Awudu Nafiu, Wahab Yahaya, Joseph Ato Bissah and Richard Afari.

The Liberian side are twice winners of the Knock Out Competition and won the Liberian League for the first time in the 2010/11 football season.

Officials of Chelsea have indicated their readiness to cause a major surprise on the continent and are seeking to use the Liberian side as the first step by going past them.

Information gathered by GNA Sports indicates that an advanced team has already been sent to the West African country to prepare the grounds for an easy take off in the competition by the Ghanaian side.
