Former Asante Kotoko captain Yusif Chibsah says he doesn’t believe “juju” played any role in their 2004 Confederation Cup final defeat to bitter rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors were beaten 8-7 on penalties after tying 2-2 on aggregate in front of their home fans at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The major talking point after the game was Schmidt’s game management and was largely blamed for the loss with the substitution of Kotoko’s best performers on the field, Charles Taylor and Michael Osei.

Reports went viral that Hearts cast a spell on the German tactician. They allegedly performed rituals with his hair after he went to shave in a saloon.

“I heard the rumors but as a player and a sportsperson I believe in hard work not superstition. When it comes to football tactics first, hard work second before anything else. If superstitions were to be the ultimate decider then Kwaku Bonsam had a football in the lower-tier why haven’t they qualified to the Premier League or even won it” Chibsah said in an interview with FootballMadeInGhana.

”We also have other countries that are well known for these practices why haven’t they won the World Cup. You have to work hard those things are just mere luck”
