Chibsah hails Waris' impact in Sweden

Former Asante Kotoko star, Yusif Chibsah is hailing the heroics of Abdul Majeed Waris after the Ghana international claimed the golden shoe in the 2012 Swedish top flight.

Right to Dream (RtD) Academy graduate Waris netted 23 goals in 29 league games to become only the second Ghanaian ever to top the scoring charts in a major European league following in the footsteps of the legendary Tony Yeboah who twice won the Bundesliga goal king whilst playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany during the 1990s.

Waris also re-wrote the records when he netted five times against IFK Norrkoping in a league game back in May to become the first Ghanaian to do so in Europe.

28 year old Chibsah who featured in 23 games as his own side Djurgarden finished the season in 9th place, and is among the senior of many Ghanaian players based in the Swedish Allsvenskan, was first to praise the 21 year old Waris.

"We the African players in the league are very proud of you. Congratulations for winning the golden boot," Chibsah posted on Waris' Facebook page.

With 15 RtD graduates playing professional football in Europe, Waris is just one of many youngsters from the famed academy based at Akrade in Eastern Ghana taking the leagues in Portugal, Spain, Norway, Denmark and of course Sweden by storm.

RtD Academy officially also sent a word of kudos to Waris: "Congratulations to RtD graduate Waris and BK Hacken who finished 2nd in the Swedish Premier League after beating GIF Sundsvall 2-1 this weekend.

"Waris finishes the season as the top scorer in the Allsvenskan with an impressive 23 goals! That's a goal tally higher than both Henrik Larsson and Zlatan Ibrahimovic ever achieved in Sweden. Well done Waris!
