The Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko, Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong says he is going to propose that the official supporters wing of the club, ‘Circles’ be dissolved. He told Kumasi based radio station Kessben FM that the current supporter leaders could not be relied upon, adding that he would present his proposal at the club’s next board meeting.
“I will be presenting my view of the decision to dissolve and restructure our officially recognized supporters’ wing, ‘Circles’ to my board in our next meeting. I don’t think I can rely on the current leadership of the circles. They have not been helpful so we need to reorganize.”
Dr. Sarpong also told Kessben FM that the name ‘Circles’ will be kept, but an interim national executive will be appointed to steer the affairs of the group.
"We will keep the same name and maybe put an interim national executive or coordinating group to make sure they go from place to place.”
The Executive Board Chairman explained that proper guidelines are being developed for the proposed new look supporters’ wing, adding that structures will be regulated to attract proper supporters who will pay their dues properly.
“We are developing proper guidelines for the new look circles so if you can’t satisfy the guidelines, then you will not be permitted to form a circle. This time round, we are planning to regulate the structure so as not to just attract the masses but supporters who are committed to paying their dues.”
