For the first time in Ghana’s football history, city-rivals Hasaacas and Eleven Wise will be plunged from the top flight league.
Wise, who joined the Premier League two seasons ago after more than a decade in the lower divisions, confirmed their demotion on Wednesday following a 3-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko.
Hasaacas were relegated three weeks ago and have amassed 21 points from 29 games with one match remaining to end the season.
The Sekondi-based sides were sharing the newly-built Essipong Stadium, which was used as a venue for the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
Fans in Sekondi will at least not witness Premier League football for a season until any of them re-surface.
“It’s painful this thing has happen to us.I just can’t understand but something must be wrong and we have to find out,” Michael Yawson, a superstitious Wise fan told Ghanasoccernet.com
