Accra, Sept 11, GNA - Coach Tony Allotey is seriously plotting a premiership survival for debutants, Kade Hotspurs as the Premier League takes its final turn.
Though Spurs are on 20 points from 22 games and wallop at the bottom of the 16-team table, coach Allotey is buoyant that his side would have their heads above water when the season's curtain is drawn down later in the year.
Coach Allotey told the GNA Sports that "things are very tough for us, but I can assure you that we would survive relegation".
Though the coach was unable to base his optimism on any particular factor, he said, "The fact that things did not work out for us today doesn't mean all is lost. We just lost a game and not the entire war". The coach who saw his side receive a 4-0 bashing from Liberty Professionals in their League match on Sunday said, "we simply lost today because football is like that, but we would surely bounce back with results that would ensure our stay and survival".
Hotspurs has won only six times, drawn twice and lost 14 times this season and would need an extra ordinary performance in the remaining eight games to stay in the premiership.
The dissatisfied coach told the GNA Sports that, "I'm very disappointed by the performance of the boys so far and I have resolved to do everything possible to guarantee our safety in the coming games". Though he could not quite put his finger on exactly what could have worked against the team in their game against Liberty, he said his boys succumbed to a first half bias officiating by referee Frank Fudzi. He said that "the referee gave too many bad calls in the first half and that greatly affected my boys performance. Whilst fouls on us went unnoticed, most of them unfortunately went against us".
Coach Allotey said he intends taking the team immediately back to the drawing board to ensure that their desire of playing in the next premiership do not become elusive.
"The entire team needs restructuring and strengthening of every department will remain my priority in the coming days", he added.
