Race walking Coach Mr. Albert Nukpezah has cancelled a proposed trip to the Netherlands, where a team of four walkers parading under the banner of Visco Walking Club Ghana was to compete in the speed walk Road Competition in Weert.
Assigning reasons for the cancellation of the trip, Mr. Nukpezah cited the late acquisition of the visas.
Technically, the walking group was supposed to have left Ghana on March 4th and arrive in the Netherlands the following day well in time to compete on March 9th.
According to the coach, the cumbersome nature and bureaucratic processes the team went through in securing the visas, were contributory factors to the cancellation in that training schedules were interrupted rather disturbingly and there was virtually no time to depart early to acclimatize with the weather conditions.
He cited the Torino World Cup fiasco, which saw the Ghana team take off in similar difficult circumstances and promised that never again will such an anomaly be repeated.
Mr. Nukpezah conveyed his sympathies to the Organizers and informed that, he was going to relay the present unfortunate development to Mr. Dave McGovern the Foreign Coach of the Club domiciled in America.
