Former Ghana coach Sam Arday will be laid to rest today Friday April 7 after his final funeral service which will be held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.
The FIFA Youth World Cup winning coach died on Sunday February 12 after a short illness.
Coach Arday who was well known as the “multi- system man” was the Technical Director of Ghana Premier League side West Africa Football Academy until his demise.
He was the coach of Ghana’s Olympic Bronze Soccer Medal winning team at Barcelona ’92, a feat which made Ghana the first an African country to win an Olympic medal in football.
He then became head coach of the Ghana national under-17 football team, the Black Starlets, who won the 1995 FIFA U-17 World Championship Trophy in Ecuador[1] and the African Under-17 Championship in Mali.
He also coached the Ghana national under-20 football team and various club sides including Ashgold, Asante Kotoko, Feyenoord etc.
He was coach of the Black Stars on two occasions – from 1996 to 1997, and again in 2004.
The entire football family extends its deepest condolences to the family and love ones of the late coach.
