Veteran coach JEA Sarpong insists despite the defeat suffered by Kwesi Appiah to new rival Sebastien Migne, the Ghanaian is still ahead of the Kenya manager.

Coach Kwesi Appiah and his Black Stars team were stunned by a disjointed Kenyan side on Saturday in the Africa Cup of nations qualifiers.

The West Africans were surprised by Kenya after a well rehearsed tactics by the East Africans secured them the first three points of the qualifiers.

Meanwhile, there is a growing rivalry between coaches of the two sides, with the two facing each other on two occasion but the Ghanaian manager has a better record with a 5-1 victory over his opponents.

After last Saturday's defeat to Kenyan, the debate on the airwaves has been who is the better manager but veteran tactician JEA Sarpong believes Kwesi Appiah is the best among the two.

“Yes you can see a rivalry is emerging. He (Migné) beat Appiah in this game but he is not a better coach over Kwesi. Kwesi hammered him 5-1 last year. Don’t forget that” JE Sarpong said on Metro FM.

“So the fact that he’s won today doesn’t make technically superior” Sarpong explained.

Ghana will next face Sierra Leon in Kumasi for the third round of games for the Africa Cup of nations qualifiers.
