Coach cites loss of concentration for draw

Accra, Oct. 6, GNA - Berekum Chelsea's coach, Yusif Abubakar has blamed his side's loss of concentration during the latter stages of their match against Accra Hearts of Oak for their inability to snatch the maximum points during their mid-week Premier League clash. The visitors surrendered a Abdul Basit opener early in the second half to Hearts as Edwin Osei Pele equalized for the Phobians in their week six Glo Premiership encounter at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra. Coach Abubakar told GNA Sports after the game that the loss of concentration by his players in the dying embers of the game really halted their ambitions for the maximum points.

"Our target was the three points and at one point we were on course to achieve that. The lack of concentration and ineffective communication between the defenders and the goalkeeper led to the equalizer. "We were on top of the game, but I reminded my players to be wary of the fighting spirit of Hearts of Oak."

Abubakar, who guided the Phobians to a third place finish last season also mentioned the injury to central defender Adam Ahmed as one of their problems.

"We lost a key defender in the latter stages of the game and the replacement failed to adjust quickly before we conceded the equalizer." Coach Abukari, however, appeared content to snatch a point at the expense of the 20-time league champions, adding "We hope to build on this performance for our future games."

Chelsea will next play holders Aduana FC on Sunday, October 17 at the Golden City Park in Berekum.
