Coates Lifts Club President's Trophy

Accra (Greater Accra), 12 Jan., John coates returned 66 net to beat Erico Gianfran on countback and lifted the eighth annual Achimota golf club President Putter golf championship played at the Achimota golf course at the weekend. Jeff Abeasi came third with 67 net, Larry Chinebuah, took the fourth position with 68 net while Nana Bosompra was fifth with 69 net. Theodora Purchison wrestled the ladies title with 69 net, Jackie Piper was second with 72 net, beating Adelaide Owusu Agyeman on countback. E.K. Korblah won the professionals event on a sudden death after he had tied 71 gross with Yao Daniels. Jackson Chichi-Rodriguez took the third position with 73 while Paul Nyarko was fourth with 74 gross. The one-day 18-hole stableford competition, sponsored by Nana Wereko Ampem the second, President of the Achimota golf club, attracted over 130 golfers. Nana Wereko Ampem praised the competitors for their sportsmanship and announced that he would not contest the club's presidency this year. gri
