Accra, Aug. 4, GNA - Greater Accra Division One Women's Football League leaders, Coegan Ladies notched a 2-0 win over Starlets Ladies in their match played at the Nelson Mandela Park at Bubuashie in Accra on Sunday.
The game which started on a fast note saw Starlets Ladies making incursions into the vital area of their opponents but failed to transform their superiority into goals. Let off the hook, Coegan Ladies repulsed the attack and snatched the opener in the 14th minute through Patience Annang. Ruth Lanquaye nearly put Starlets on the level terms but her terrific shot was parried to corner by Coegan's goalkeeper Veronica Lartey with the corner wasted.
Back from recess, Ernestina Adjetey, who played a good game almost increased the tally in the 59th minute but her beautiful shot missed the posts narrowly to her chagrin. Rita Amu however sealed the doom of Starlets when she scored the second goal for her side three minutes to full time to give her side a sweet victory. 04 August 08
