Committee to investigate missing medal

Accra, Aug 18, GNA - The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports (YES) has set up a three-member committee under the chairmanship of Mr C. S Sackey, Director of the Youth and Sports Division of the Ministry to investigate circumstances that led to the missing of the Bronze medal won by Eddie Blay at the 1960 Olympic Games.

A statement signed by Kwesi Assan-Brew, Assistant Director of the Minister said the medal, which was won during the Rome Olympics Games got lost from the National Museum where it was being kept.

The Committee has been given one month within which to submit its report that should include recommendations that will lead to either the recovery or replacement of the lost medal.

Other members of the Committee are Mr Jerry Kanfra, Acting Chief Executive, National Sport Council and Mr R. O. Lamptey, Secretary General of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association who would also act as the secretary of the Committee.
