Ghana’s Ambassador to the Republic of Congo H.E Kingsley Atta Boafo has asked Asante Kotoko fans to remain calm amid fears of mistreatment ahead of the club’s CAF Confederation Cup second leg encounter against CARA Brazzaville.
Local media reports suggest that the Congolese side raised claims of maltreatment from their Ghanaian opponents before the first leg fixture on Sunday. The report further reveals that CARA’s officials displayed signs of providing an unwelcome atmosphere for Asante Kotoko.
But in an interview with Kessben FM, the top government official ensured fans of great preparations and a friendly stay for the Porcupines.
“We are in talks with the team’s officials and fans should ignore any fears of bad treatment in Congo. I can assure them that Kotoko will have a smooth run before the match.
“We are aiding the club with preparations and everything will be perfectly arranged before their arrival.”
Asante Kotoko are expected to leave Ghana on February 19 with the return leg will be played on February 21.
