Footy-ghana.com can confirm that former Hearts of Oak head coach David Duncan is very close to sealing a sensational move to Premier League champions Asante Kotoko.
According to our highly placed sources, Asante Kotoko have begun talks with Duncan through intermediaries with a view to hiring him, when it became clear that the club’s hierarchy wanted to part ways with Mas-Ud Dramani.
Footy-ghana.com sources further reveal that Duncan has finally signaled his willingness to move to Kumasi to coach the Porcupine Warriors, with the ex-Great Olympics and Ashanti Gold coach set to meet his potential new employers to seal the deal.
Duncan almost joined Great Olympics this season, but the move fell through. He was unceremoniously sacked by Hearts of Oak last term despite a good start with the Phobians.
Asante Kotoko verbally sacked Dramani on Thursday and were looking at Duncan and Yusif Abubakari of Heart of Lions as possible replacements, but the Opoku Nti-led management has finally settled on Duncan.
If appointed, Duncan will have the responsibility of attempting to defend the Premier League title, as well as giving Asante Kotoko a good run in the CAF Champions League.
In a related development, Dramani is still training the side ahead of a meeting with Asante Kotoko’s Board of Directors this weekend, as he waits to receive official notification of his future with the club.
