Team masseur for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations winning squad of 1982 – W.O 2 Armah – claims his name has been omitted from the list of beneficiaries of government’s subvention.

Sports Minister Mahama Ayariga on Tuesday redeemed government’s pledge made by President John Mahama to pay GHS 1.7m to be shared amongst the four Africa Cup winning squads of the Black Stars.

Therefore all members of the Black Stars Africa Cup winning squads including their respective technical teams of 1963, 1965, 1978 and 1982 were to benefit from the subvention.

There however appears to be some confusion over the disbursement of the cash with some players and members of the technical teams complaining they have been neglected from benefiting from the booty. “I walked through the rains to the Sports Ministry to take my share upon hearing government have paid the money only to be told that I am not part of the list,” W.O 2 Armah narrated to Asempa FM.

“I felt very bad instantly and had to walk through the rains back home.”

“I don’t know who compiled the list but obviously there are some mistakes in there.”

“Now I don’t know what to do even.”

There are reports some of the listed beneficiaries – in particular Ibrahim Sunday– do not merit to be a beneficiary.

It is unclear how the list for beneficiaries was compiled but it is believed former Ghana star Osei Kofi played an integral role in identifying the beneficiaries.
