Ghana Football Association (GFA), spokesperson, Henry Asante Twum, says his outfit is constantly in touch with Ghana Health Service on the way forward regarding the 2019/20 league season.

The season, which has been suspended since March 16, 2020, remains on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result, some clubs have called for the cancellation of the current season while others have proposed football should return when its safe to do so.

The Football Association has requested an extension from the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) to decide whether to cancel the season or continue with it as some African countries have already canceled their leagues including Mauritius, Angola, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Congo, Liberia, Ethiopia, and Guinea.

Speaking to Asempa FM in an interview, Henry Asante Twum revealed that the GFA is in touch with Ghana Health Service whether to cancel or continue playing the league.

“There hasn’t been a moment we have taken a decision without contacting the Ministry of Health and Ghana Health Service. We are constantly in touch with authorities on the way forward", he said.

"The GFA Medical committee has also been in touch with the Executive Council to give guidance and direction to the clubs.

"So we haven’t done anything in isolation. The GFA has also been engaging the health authorities and what we need now is patience”, he added.
