With 11 days to the start of the Ghana Premier League, Ashanti Gold Sporting Club Will be looking to defend the title they win during the 2014/15 Ghana premier league season.

Ashgold is a professional football team based the gold mining town of Obuasi, south of Kumasi, in the Ashanti region of Ghana.

Ashanti Gold SC was founded in 1978 by a group of employees of the Ashanti Goldfields Corporation. The employees pleaded with management of Ashanti Gold to sponsor the team, but they were always refused.

Undoubtedly, Ashanti Gold Sporting Club is the most professionally run football club in Ghana whom are many honors in Ghana and the African continent especially after winning the league trophy 1993/94, 1994/95, 1995/96 season.

The team who won the Ghana Premier League in 2014/2015 had a very good pre-season tournament even though they lost to FC Medeama in the super Cup clash by 1-0.

Ashanti Gold SC will kick-start their campaign this season against their Medeama FC at the Len Clay sports Stadium on the February 20, 2016

The former Power FC coach who won his first Premier League title with Asante Kotoko in the 2007/08 season,and has also helped Ashanti Gold SC win their fourth Premier league title since 1996 when they last won.He will be looking forward to emulate last season performance this season especially with the acquisition of new players.
