Promasidor Ghana Limited on Monday night hosted members of Ghana Cycling Federation, some media personnel, officials of the 2013 National Tour and winners.
The soiree took place at the plush Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra where Mr. Olivier Thiry, Managing Director of Promasidor Ghana Limited expressed his joy over the grand success of the 2013 Cowbell National Cycling Tour.
He said this year’s event was a huge improvement and the success story has inspired him to expend the sponsorship deal to another three years.
He noted that the big success of the Tour indicates that more success can be chalked for Ghana Cycling if the Federation is supported and next year’s event will have an international flavor with the invitation of cyclists from Togo, Burkina Faso and possibly Cote d’ Voire.
The MD of Promasidor Ghana Limited adviced Ghanaian cyclists to train harder and come out with better times that can compete internationally.
“We can start going international from inside and later go outside. We have to see the level of cycling in Ghana and encourage the cyclists to make international times” he added.
Tetteh Opai of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate who was a member of the Cycling Tour officials used the occasion to present to Promasidor Ghana Limited a Certificate of Appreciation for their contribution of sports in the University.
Mr. Mike Banfo, Chairman of City Migro club who’s Prosper Agbo was declared the winner of the overall Yellow Jersey said he was elated by the high quality Tour and the reception. He congratulated his team members and prayed that they train harder to retain the enviable Yellow Jersey.
Mr. Wilberforce Quaye, Chairman of Osu based All Stars indicated that the 2013 Cowbell Tour was exceptional and never expected his boys to put up a splendid performance. He praised the Youngest Winner, Frank Awuku Akuffo, Victor Cudjoe, Isaac Odonkor and Emmanuel Sackey for putting up a good show during the Tour.
Seidu Sulley, Chairman of Dansoman based Young Stars who paraded the Star of the Tour, Samuel Anim said he was sad that his boy did not get the Yellow Jersey and congratulated City Migro and All Stars for putting up a good challenge. He hinted that many young boys have approached him requesting to join his team and hopes to train more young cyclists.
