Critics must prove that I can't win GPL - Bashir Hayford

Ashanti Gold has a four point cushion at the summit of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League after the first round of the 2014 / 2015 season.

The man behind their dominance is former Ghana Premier League winning manager, Bashir Hayford. He has been there before, but it was only once he ended the season as a champion.

And many believe Ashanti Gold lead at the top of the table is not a guarantee that they will end the season as champions because history does not favour the man at the helm of affairs.

And he has asked those with such claims to come out with a scientific prove that he will not win the league to end AshGold's 19 years wait to win the league crown.

"My critics are not scientists. I have always been told I cannot win the league when leading the table, but they are yet to come out with a scientific prove that I cannot win the premier league," the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko boss told Joy FM.

"I would like them to prove scientifically that AshGold cannot win the league this season. If they come out with any scientific analysis proving that I cannot win the league with AshGold, I will accept it.

"But if they keep their claims based on the past, I will say is 'baseless'. They say when 'you were at Afienya, you played well first round, second round you fumbled, when you were at Power FC, Kotoko, Medeama blah blah blah... their argument is what we call 'empirical analysis.

"My critics can't say anything I will be following. What I know is that every second round of the season is always tough. Last two seasons at Essipong, you all know what happened, but when you say you are a good coach but your second rounds are not good is baseless."
