Wa All Stars coach Jimmy Korblah has ruled that this season’s FCPPL has been the most competitive contest he has witnessed.

Korblah whose direct involvement as a coach in the Ghanaian top flight began in 2003 at Hearts of Lions watched his current side Wa All Stars displaced from fifth position after a 1-3 defeat to Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.

”I started coaching at the Premier level right from the 2003/04 season with Lions. I have never seen this kind of [competitiveness] before,” he said.

“I think it is very tough and very dicey because teams come to you home, you find it difficult to win; you go to their home and they also find it difficult to win. It has been tough.

”The table speaks for itself. Right from the fourth-placed team to the last but one [Hearts of Oak], any team can join the top four or drop into relegation so it is very difficult one,” coach Korblah ended.

There is no clear-cut lead on the log despite AshantiGold’s consistent positioning at the top since match day 2 with Aduana Stars closely challenging with just a point behind the leaders (who have 45 points) while down the log, there is all to fight four in the relegation dog fight in the final four games of the season.

Berekum Chelsea and Inter Allies are tied on 40 points at third and fourth places respectively. Kotoko and All Stars are only a point better than WAFA and Medeama who complete the top half of the log with 37 points each.

Four teams - Heart of Lions, Liberty, Bechem and New Edubiase United have 34 points apiece behind ninth-placed Sekondi Hasaacas who also have 36 points.

BA United’s relegation was confirmed by the 5-0 loss to Heart of Lions on Wednesday. They have only managed 18 points from 26 points with Hearts of Oak (32) and Great Olympics (33 points) trying to fight their way out of joining the Soccer Apostles to Division One next season.

The 2014/15 First Capital Plus Premier League (FCPPL) continues with match day 27 on Sunday. All matches kick off simultaneously at 3:00pm GMT (5:00pm CAT).
