Former Hearts of Oak defender Michael Donkor says the current crop of players in the team have a great future if only they can maintain their momentum and the zeal.
According to Donkor the current players in the team have the quality to replicate the international laurels they achieved with the club.
Last Sunday there was an in-house friendly game dubbed the ‘Impartation Match” as the current Hearts of Oak team won 4-2 over the 2000 CAF Champions League and 2004 Confederation Cup winning squad.
Donkor whose last penalty won the Confederation Cup trophy for Hearts of Oak in 2004 over their sworn-rivals Asante Kotoko in observing the current team of the Phobians said they have potentials to win laurels for the club if only they can keep the momentum and zeal.
“The current players have a future if only they can maintain the momentum and the zeal. I hope they can go far. Right now it is their turn to do what we did some time ago,” he said.
“They should make the fans very happy and when the going is getting tough they shouldn’t get despaired.
The supporters should also cheer the players up by signing the club’s anthem in order to motivate them,” he said.
Hearts of Oak’s performance in the previous season was very abysmal finishing 13th on the league log but the current team promises to better that performance.
