Former Ghana Premier League player, Eric Bekoe has asserted that the current crop of Ghanaian players in the league do not work hard enough.

According to Bekoe who won the Ghana league with Asante Kotoko, young players are often under the illusion that their energy levels in their 20’s will never desert them as they advance in age.

“Because they are young the energy is there but you will be betrayed by the energy one day. It will prompt you when you are getting weaker because you have all the energy to make money,” Bekoe said on Ghanaweb’s Sports Check show.

The former Ghana Premier League player also noted that players become complacent when they are performing well forgetting that their clubs have the power to replace them at any time.

“Next season is not for you, Hearts or Kotoko can sign a player and you will be no more, so what are you making with your chance. I gave myself one season to play for Kotoko so I dedicated everything for the game and God being on my side it happened.”

The striker who won the Ghana Premier league while with Kotoko spent 3-years with the Egyptian side where he scored 65 goals in 80 appearances before returning home to feature for Berekum Chelsea and Sekondi Hassacas.
