The Chairman of the Division One League Board, Owoahene Acheampong has launched a scathing attack on police officers who mann the various stadia for the violence in league matches.

According to him, most police officers who go to match venues watch on when home fans are perpetrating acts of violence.

The experienced football administrator believes that acts of violence and hooliganism will mitigate at the various match venues if police officers perform their duties professionally.

“Da-in day-out, police officers are on duty yet violence keeps on increasing.

“Police officers watch on when fans are perpetrating violence but will do nothing,” he said.

“At some of the centers, the hooligans are known by the police officers, yet they fail to arrest them.

“So if they do their job well, the violence at out centers will be mitigated,” he added.

Retired referee Alex Quartey had blamed the security at the various centers for the unending acts of hooliganism at the various match venues two years ago.
