FC Tanga, one of the budding teams on the GN Bank Division One League scene has officially written to the Ghana Football Association to withdraw from the league.

The Division One League Board and the GFA has officially written to the Club to accept their withdrawal from the league.

Based in Bolgatanga, the regional capital of the Upper East of Ghana, the club played in Zone One of the GN Bank Division One League last season, ending the season in the 5th spot after impressively going on undefeated at home.

Reasons for the clubs withdrawal are unknown at this time, and a check of the club’s website had no information on the team’s withdrawal.

Consequently, Tamale Utrecht who placed 13th in the 2015/16 edition of the GN Bank Division One League and were bound for relegation will take FC Tanga's place in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the GFA has announced on its website that the 2016/17 GN Bank Division One League will begin this weekend in all three zones across the country.

A complete release of the opening day fixtures for all three zones are in the works and we will make them available once the full release comes out.

Tamale Utrecht FC will play Real Tamale United on Tuesday at the Academy Park in Tamale for their Day One fixture.
