Accra, Oct 24, GNA - The management of Dade Gym has signed on two new boxers with a promise to make them champions in their respective divisions.

Edward "Bone-cracker Kambasi, 20, a compact, stiff jabbing, power punching undefeated lightweight from Navrongo in the Upper East Region and Isaac Quaye, 23 a dynamite of a super-flyweight are the new additions to the Dade stable.

They both signed three-year contracts with the exquisite gym, which has undertaken to take care for them in all forms required of good boxing managers and arrange training sessions and fights for them and guide them to stardom within the shortest possible time. Dade gym will also oversee the health needs of the boxers and give them allowances regularly to meet their basic needs. To ensure that championship dreams of the management of the gym are met on schedule, the management has hired coach Emmanuel Teiko Tagoe, known in boxing circles as "Akisseh" to supervise the training regimen of the boxers.

Akisseh will act under the designation of a Technical Director and draw up an appropriate developmental programme for the boxers to meet the expectation of management.

Commenting on the new pugilists in his stable, Mr Gideon Quartey, Director of the Gym, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra Amateur Boxing Association (GAABA) said he decided to manage them because he had seen championship potentials in them.

He said he discovered Kambasi, who prefers to be called by his nickname, "Bone-cracker" when he organized a triangular tournament for boxers in the Northern, Upper East and the Upper West Regions. Mr Quartey said he was astounded by the discipline of Kambasi and was overwhelmed by his brute strength and his determination to succeed. "I realized that he is a bundle of talent and hope and if given the right guidance he will become a world champion. "He takes instructions to the letter and loves to be in the gym to undergo the rigours of a boxer's training."

On Quaye, the GAABA Vice Chairman said the super-flyweight was a revelation at the Mortein Championship where he stunned pundits of the sport with his aggression and precise punching ability. He said he displayed a lot of promise and "it is just proper and fair that I lend him a hand to steer him to the top." The two boxers paid glowing tribute to Mr Quartey and his management team and pledged to comport themselves and attain the goals that would be set for them. 24 Oct. 06
