Ace sports journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah has questioned some of the decisions made by Black Stars coach Otto Addo regarding his selection for the two matches against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Kwaku Yeboah raised preliminary issues with two calls made by Otto Addo—the inclusion of Jojo Wollacott and the exclusion of Andre Dede Ayew.

The head of sports at Despite Media questioned Otto Addo's decision to pick Jojo Wollacott ahead of Felix Kyei of Medeama FC, who was rated the second-best goalkeeper in the 2023/2024 CAF Champions League.

Kwaku Yeboah believes that Jojo Wollacott, who did not enjoy the best of seasons with Scottish side Hibernian, should not have been picked ahead of Felix Kyei.

"Whose son is Jojo Wollacott? Medeama's goalie was rated the second-best goalie in the CAF Champions League and still couldn't make the Black Stars, but Wollacott was given a call-up," he stated.

Regarding Dede Ayew, Kwaku Yeboah demanded clarity, urging Otto Addo and the handlers of the Black Stars to provide clarity on the matter.

Kwaku Yeboah asserted that if the decision to exclude Dede from the team is part of long-term plans to phase out the ageing players from the club, then it should be duly communicated to him and Ghanaians.

"In the just-ended season, Dede Ayew scored five goals in 19 matches. His numbers are better than some of those included in the squad, so if you are fed up with him and no longer want him in the squad, that's another argument. His current form, per the stats, is better than when he was invited for the AFCON. On what basis was he dropped?" he questioned.

Meanwhile, eighteen players have reported to the Black Stars camp ahead of their upcoming matches against Mali and the Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars opened camp on Thursday, May 31, 2024, in Accra ahead of the two matches scheduled for June.

Coach Otto Addo invited 26 players for the assignment, but only 18 players reported to camp on the first day.

The Black Stars are expected to have a full house by Friday, June 1, when they hold their first training session at the University of Ghana Stadium.
