Ghana's Olympic team goalkeeper Daniel Adjei is in France for trials with RC Lens, SuperSport.com understands. The player joined the French second-division side a few days ago.
Adjei is looking at getting a permanent deal at the Ligue 2 side who were relegated from the top flight only last season. The main goalkeepers at the club are also African, with first choice being Tunisia’s Hamdi Kasraoui while Zakarya Bergdich of Morocco is his deputy.
Adjei has been a consistent fixture in the junior national teams in the past three years and has had patience to develop his talent in the local league. He was the first-choice goalkeeper in Sellas Tetteh’s victorious World Youth Championship in 2009. He was also part of the squad at the last African and World Cups. Two months ago he led Ghana to win gold at the coveted All Africa Games.
Daniel Adjei has been in posts for Liberty Professionals throughout his duration in the Ghana Premier League. In his absence, Patrick Antwi will hold court as they focus on improving their eighth-place on the log.
Liberty play Arsenals at the Alhaji Sly Tetteh Park this weekend.
