Ghanaian defender Daniel Amartey has been spotted in public for the first time following the termination of his contract with Turkish club Besiktas in September 2024.
In a video shared on X, the player was seen attending a church event, dressed in an all-pink kaftan attire and beaming with smiles while exchanging pleasantries with people.
After the contract termination with Besiktas, it is not known where the former Leicester City defender will head in his footballing career.
About the contract termination
Daniel Amartey's contract with Turkish club Besiktas was terminated by mutual agreement.
According to a statement released by the club, Amartey agreed to the termination, though the reasons behind the decision were not specified.
"The contract between our club and professional football player Daniel Amartey has been terminated by mutual agreement," ghanasoccernet.com quoted part of the Istanbul club confirmed in a statement released on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
It is worth noting that Huseyin Yucel, a spokesperson for Besiktas, recounted the lengths to which Amartey went to avoid being transferred to a Saudi Arabian club.
Yucel told reporters in Turkey that the club had agreed on a deal with a Saudi Arabian club to transfer the Ghanaian centre-back, as they were keen to offload him.
However, Amartey was not interested in moving to Saudi Arabia and took extreme measures to prevent the transfer.
Amartey denied these allegations, claiming they are untrue.
The Black Stars defender joined Besiktas in 2023 on a free transfer, making 27 appearances and scoring one goal.
