Black Stars midfielder Daniel Kofi Kyereh has left Freiburg's pre-season camp after sustaining a recurring knee injury.
The Ghanaian is set to undergo a surgical procedure to assess the extent of the injury.
Kofi Kyere resumed training with the first team in July 2024 after going 20 months without playing football following an ACL injury in February 2023.
The midfielder tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a training session. During this period, he missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d'Ivoire and Freiburg's run in the Europa League.
This is his second ACL injury, having sustained the same injury during his time at TSV Havelse at age 19.
The 28-year-old's career has been clouded by multiple injuries that have hindered him from reaching his full potential.
He joined Freiburg in 2022 and has played just 12 official games for the Bundesliga side.
