Striker Dauda Mohammed has rejected accusations of a lack of commitment by Asante Kotoko players.

After initially laying blame on former coach Mas-Ud Dramani, vociferous Asante Kotoko fans have in recent days, turned onto their players due to their poor run of form in the FCPPL.

Dramani has since been replaced by coach David Duncan. The new coach has led the side to nine games so far in the league and has won four, drawn two with three defeats – a run which has seen the defending champions now place 9th with a total of 25 points after 19 games.

The playing body now stands accused for a lack of commitment to the cause of the club in this season's campaign. But young forward Dauda, while admitting the team has been disappointing so far, has strongly rejected the criticisms posed by the fans which question their commitment level.

“Nobody should judge us wrong,” the 17-year-old told the club’s website.

“The supporters should be observant and they will see there is something wrong. This is not how Kotoko play. It’s beyond imagination.

“We are still trying hard to restore our fortunes. It’s just a matter of time so they must bear with us” he noted.

The porcupine warriors have won only three points from a possible twelve in the second round of the FCPPL. They host Bechem United on match day 20 this Sunday.
