Black Stars forward David Accam is the highest Ghanaian earner in the MLS according to the player salary ratings published earlier this week by the league’s players’ union.

Accam, who plays for Chicago Fire, takes home a yearly base salary of $700,000 (an average of $58,333 per month).

His wage is among the highest among those which are below a million dollars.

He earns a lot more than fellow Ghanaian players Harrison Afful of the Columbus Crew, Adam Larsen Kwarasey of Portland Timbers, Kwadwo Poku of New York City FC, Dominic Oduro of Montreal Impact, Ex-Inter Allies player Gershon Coffie of the New England Revolution, New York Red Bulls defender Gideon Baah and former Right To Dream product Emmanuel Boateng of the LA Galaxy.

Afful is paid $275,000 a year (a monthly average of $22, 916)

Kwarasey is paid $335,000 a year (a monthly average of $27,916)

Poku takes home $67,500 a year (a monthly average of $ 5, 625)

Oduro earns $235,000 a year (an average of $19,583 per month)

Koffie is paid $250,000 a year (an average of $20,833 per month)

Baah takes home $230,000 a year (an average of $19,116 per month)

Boateng earns $100,000 a year (an average of $8,333 per month).

While the Ghanaian players may be earning good salaries, they are a world away from what the high salaries earned by the likes of Kaka, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Sebastian Giovinco.

The former AC Milan and Real Madrid midfielder Kaka is the highest paid player in the MLS with a yearly salary of $7,167,500 (an average of $597,291). Giovinco, Michael Bradley of Toronto, Gerrard and Lampard rounding up the top five earners in the league.

Sebastian Giovinco earns $7,115,556 per year, Michael Bradley takes home $6,500,000 per year ($541, 666 per month), Steven Gerrard has a yearly salary of $6,132,500 ($511, 041) and Lampard earns $6,000,000 a year ($500,000 a month)
