Ghana international David Accam heralded a strong display by Chicago Fire as he scored and provided an assist in their emphatic 3-0 romping of Montreal Impact in the American Major League Soccer on Saturday.

The 24-year-old attacker, who has been named as replacement for crocked West Ham United winger Andre Ayew, set up Luis Solignac for the opening goal at the Stade Saputo on 15 minutes before he netted in the 73rd minute.

The lightening-paced attacker got to the end of Alvarez's goal-bound effort.

The former Helsingborg IF star has now netted six league goals and provided vital assists.

His form becomes important for Ghana who are feverishly lining up against Rwanda in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers slated for next month.

Accam was named by Ghana coach Avram Grant as replacement for vice-captain Andre Ayew who suffered an injury during his West Ham United debut and has now been ruled out for close to four months.

While Accam was scoring in the game which featured Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, his Ghanaian compatriot Dominic Oduro watched the entire game from the Impact bench as he was unused by the home side.
