David Addy could make a surprise return to the Black Stars for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations following the visit of coach Avram Grant over the weekend.
The new Ghana coach was in the stands to see the left back in action for Waasland-Beveren in their 2-0 home defeat to Anderlecht in the Belgian top flight game on Saturday.
Addy has gone under the radar since joining Waasland-Beveren at the beginning of the season from Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes.
Many feel the former FC Porto man has failed to grab the limited opportunities he has had with the Black Stars in the past.
But Avram Grant is prepared to hand the gifted defender another chance with the national team with the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations fast on the horizon.
Addy has started 15 of the 20 league games of Waasland this season and appears to be regaining his spark once again.
It is unclear whether Avram Grant’s presented provisional list of players for the 2015 AFCON to the Ghana FA has the left-back included.
But the Israeli’s presence in Belgium over the weekend gives out the hint Addy might just benefit from the new look Black Stars squad which is being assembled for next year’s tournament in Equatorial Guinea.
